About the job

As a Data Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating data sources, extracting data applications of transformation logic and uploading data in target tables. You will be responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting the client’s data storage system before it goes live. You must have strong technical capabilities and good knowledge of the coding languages commonly used in ETL development, such as Python, SQL and XML and Data warehousing Concepts. You should have some knowledge on Troubleshooting for bugs and errors and finding solutions of ETL Development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data testing strategies and methodologies to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data in P&C insurance software solutions.
• Conduct thorough data validation to identify and resolve data quality issues.
• Design comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for data validation, ensuring coverage of data completeness, correctness, and consistency.
• Execute data testing activities, including both manual and automated tests, according to defined test plans and cases.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and frameworks for data validation using SQL, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Implement automated data validation checks to streamline the testing process and ensure timely detection of data issues.
• Test ETL processes to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading procedures.
• Ensure that data flows correctly through various stages of the ETL pipeline and meets predefined quality standards.
• Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to prioritize and resolve data-related defects promptly.
• Perform regression testing to ensure that data-related changes and enhancements do not introduce new data quality issues.
• Ensure adherence to established quality standards, processes, and best practices throughout the testing process.

Requirements

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on data testing and validation.
• Good understanding of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance concepts, data models, and workflows. Knowledge of insurance-related data structures and regulatory requirements is advantageous.
• Strong skills in writing and executing complex SQL queries for data validation and analysis.
• Solid understanding of data testing principles, methodologies, and best practices. Experience with both manual and automated data testing.
• Proficiency in developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks for data validation using tools such as Python, SQL, or similar scripting languages.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and tools for testing data extraction, transformation, and loading workflows.
• Experience with data quality assurance tools and frameworks, such as Informatica Data Quality, Talend, or similar.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, HP ALM, or similar.
• Good understanding of regression testing techniques and practices.
• Proactive approach to taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion.
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a keen diligence.
• Experience working in Agile environment following Onsite Offshore mode.

Good to Have:

• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, ICP or Agile certifications are desirable.
